partial cosleeper needs help!

My son is 7 1/2 months old. He goes to sleep at 6:45 in his crib, usually waking to nurse 1-3 times. Usually on the second or third waking, he doesn't fall back to sleep as easily and we bring him in to bed with us (I like cosleeping, but my husband is a light sleeper, so we only do it partially.)
He usually falls back to sleep easily once in bed with us, but begins to wake more frequently and when he does, he stirs once (I wake up right away) and instantly starts to wail. When he wakes in his crib, it is much more gradual and I can always get to him before he cries. This has been happening now for a few weeks, around the time that he has been teething and after he had the flu, but I don't think it's congestion, teething pain, etc.
I really enjoy cosleeping and am glad to give up the half hour of trying to get him back to sleep up in his room, but I feel like his sleep is worse with us. I don't know if he is hot, cold, cramped, disturbed, or what! Would love any advice! Thanks!

It sounds like you have a good routine. Maybe your son isnt tired when he wakes up in the middle of the night. My son sleeps better at night when I put him to bed a little later, around 8 to 8:30 instead of right after dinner when he shows the first signs of the sleeps. He wakes to nurse around 10 or 11, I pick him up and take him to our bed for the rest of the night. This later bedtime started working well for us when he started crawling. I think he was so excited to be learning he didnt want to sleep for such a long stretch.

When you say he doesn't fall back to sleep easily does that mean he cries? If not why not just lay him back in his crib and maybe rub his back till he falls asleep? Or is it possible to maybe get a twin bed in his room and lay with him there until he is asleep then put him in the crib?
