To child

What is this???

What is this nighttime behavoir??
DS is 4 1/2 months old. Since he was about 3 months, he goes down at about 6:30, and wakes at 11pm and 4am to eat, then up at 7am for the day. He is co-sleeping.
Recently, he is waking more often (which is fine), but now he is waking in the night crying, then screaming, but NEVER even opening his eyes-- like he's not even awake! I try to soothe him back down, but end up nursing him (which then wakes him up!).
Anyone heard of this kind of thing??

^_^:
While you should be aware that babies and toddlers DO have nightmares and bad dreams, I think that this is a case of the beginning to a couple months of teething pains.
Teething can be very painful for babies, and it tends to become worse at night (unfortunately). Suckling to nurse at night hurts their swollen gums and can be a source of frustration for months before the little tooth buds finally pop through.
It really sounds like the teething pain we went through with our dc, starting at right about the same age.
