nursing to sleep

So mamas,
I might sound like an idiot over here but I have always put my DD to bed by nursing and now she is 16 months old and I am thinking about starting the weaning process and I don't know where to start. How can I change this pattern?
How did you start weaning?
I would love suggestions.
Thank you SO much in advance,
xo

I probably did things very differently but here is my story: by the time we weaned (it was really more ds's choice) he was sleeping in his own bed, dh also always took him to his bed after he fell asleep with us. I always let ds nurse, but as I got farther into pregnancy I lost my milk, but he kept at it. Eventually I got very sore and it was not longer an enjoyable experience but it was still very important to him. So before our night nurse (he had already self weaned off of all other nursings) I'd say we could only have a short nurse, and let him nurse for a few minutes and then dh would take him to his bed, and rub his back/sing until he feel asleep. Eventually he would only nurse for a few minutes on his own, then he would latch for literally 10 seconds just to get the contact, and soon after that he started asking only once ever few days, until eventually he didn't ask again. Ds was 2+ when he finally stopped.

here Your Nursing Toddler
How Weaning Happens
The bedtime and naptime nursings are the last to go. If you are determined to wean, cut out the less important daytime nursings first. Be prepared to never sit down in front of your toddler. Be prepared to keep very busy and go out a lot on interesting outings. Be prepared to have lots of distractions, toys, crafts, cooking projects, etc., available.
It does help to be pg to wean, b/c the milk dries up!
I didn't know how my last kid would wean. Well, he finally did, but it took years! LOL! I weaned my first 2 while pg at younbger ages (still older than yours), b/c my nipples were excruciatingly sore.
Why do you want to wean?
