What do you say
to a new mom that is having a lot of trouble?
I had such an easy time starting out with breastfeeding dd that I don't know what to say to be encouraging and supportive without being annoying. I know she is in a lot of pain and worried about having enough milk to satisfy her ds's appetite. Any suggestions on how I can be kind and helpful?
^_^:
The pain is the hard part--but if this new mom has the time to devote, recommend that she spend hours each day snuggled (in bed is good) with her newborn, nursing. It's good for her milk supply, and good in general.
She can take her baby to the ped to be weighed to help her feel confident about her supply, too.
As for the pain, I hope someone else can offer suggestions.
^_^:
I would suggest she see a certified (IBCLC) lactation consultant right away! (And if I lived nearby I'd drive her!)
A LLL leader can help also.
And I'd send her to (or look it up myself at)
