jibberish
My son is almost three, he can communicate very well. He speaks in full sentences and does not have trouble getting across what he likes, wants, doesnt like, etc. He understands well as well.
Here is the weird thing, in my opinion. A lot of time he has conversations with us and when hes playing that are total jibberish. Weird sounding words, I ask what he means and he says "it means..." and then the same jibberish. We are not bilingual but he spends some time with his great aunt who speaks arabic but not really TO him and his jibbering is definitely not arabic.
Does this sound typical? It doesnt bother me but I wonder where he picked up on this language of his and I dont know any other toddlers who do this.
Granted, I dont know a whole lot of other toddlers.
TIA

Totally normal. :thumb My dd does that and at least one of her 3yr old friends does it. Silly, isn't it?

My 2 1/2 y.o. son does this, too. Very strange and kind of amusing!
^_^:
"It means <jibberish>" had me chuckling. Mine does this on a regular basis.
And when he's around his 2-yo cousin (eight months younger but not talking much at all) he mimics him. If Culin calls out Grandma/Grandpa ("bah bah") then Brogan does too, etc.
