Growing Pains

Does anyone know about these? I have heard of them and last night my 3yo was very cranky and finally admitted that her legs hurt (which is not a complaint that she would make up I would think...). I massaged them a little bit and that seemed to help...

^_^:
I don't know about growing pains in a 3yo I would try to llok for other causes of the leg pain.

I got them during my pre-pubescent growth spurt eons ago :) and I remember how much my legs ached! I'm glad the massage helped. Has she done any new activities lately that could have strained her muscles, or did she have one day recently of more running/jumping/hard physical play than normal?

^_^:
many times muscle cramping can be due to a potassium deficiency- bananas, baked potatoes, etc. are a couple of food options I know are high in potassium and can help ward off "growing pains".
Hope this helps!

I had growing pains a lot as a kid; around my knees mostly. Heating pads really helped, and having the massaged/rubbed. I'm sure there is a great homeopathic remedy for it too, hmm, Ruta might help, or Arnica(you could use the gel form and rub it on the affected area), Eupatorium for aching deep in the bones. And how about a warm bath with epsom salts?
It is really painful, but these things will help tremendously.
Good luck.

While I don't really have any advice on how to make your dd feel better, I just had to respond to this thread. My dh has mentioned several times that he remembers having lots of growing pains as a child. Whenever dd is cranky and fussy without any obvious cause, he says it must be growing pains. I thought he was kind of nuts at first, as I don't really remember having them. But then I thought about it, and it makes a lot of sense when you think about what children's bodies go through. That's a lot of work to grow that much that fast. Looks like you got some good advice about homeopathic remedies and diet issues. I'd keep up with the massages, especially after a nice warm bath. Good luck!

I was over in Health and Healing to find some info for myself on another topic and saw a current thread and an archived thread about grwoing pains.

I too suffered terribly from growing pains as a child. My mom said I was always growing and could never keep me in the same clothes for long. I second the heating pad. My ds1 complained a few weeks ago about his legs hurting...he grows like a weed as well, so I put him in a warm bath before bed and he said that helped a lot. I would trust your dd when she says her legs hurt. It isn't fun and caused me several nights of restless sleep as a child.
