new to lacto-veg, now I feel awful - help

I'm 25-26 weeks pregnant. DH and I eliminated eggs, fish and meat about 10 days ago. We also went ALL organic. Previously, we were only partially organic. I'm so proud of myself for getting in more veggies, which was my ultimate goal. I felt fine the first week but the last 3 days, I feel very nauseated, no appetite and dizzy - almost like the first tri. I'm also getting tons of contractions, now. (I had preterm labor at 22 weeks with DS#1 so I definitely don't want to go there again). Is this normal to feel bad at first or am I missing something? DH wants me to go eat a hamburger NOW. :lol To be honest, it sounds horrible. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've done 2 vegan pregnancies now--you definitely don't need a hamburger! Just watch what you are eating to make sure it is balanced and high enough in calories and protein. Make sure your blood sugar isn't getting too low.

Are you drinking plenty?

Are you drinking plenty? :truedat:I find it a bit harder to get enough calories when eating veg AND super healthy. I also find that even though I'm getting plenty of protien my body reacts to getting less than it is used to at first and I get dizzy/lethargic. I'd try to get some more protien/fats if I were you. There is no reason to eat meat if you don't want to. This will not be popular around here but if you are still feeling bad AND some sort of lean meat sounds really good maybe have a little since your body is used to it. Major dietary changes during pregnancy are tough.

Sounds to me like you're definitely detoxing. Which is a GOOD thing! It could take a few days or even a week, possibly longer to get out of your system depending on what kind and how many toxins you're releasing. I say keep eating your greens, and keep hydrated. It will pass soon and you'll feel great. :) Your body is thanking you right now!!!

I used to feel like that when I was preggers, I'd even get dizzy laying down. It was low blood sugar I believe. One spoonful of peanut butter and I was good to go.
There really is NO reason on earth you'd need to eat meat when your pregnant. Just make sure you eat small frequent meals, lots of protein, lots of fruits and veggies and drink a ton of water and your baby will be set.

THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE!!! I googled and couldn't find any info. I knew I could find it here. I definitely could be dehydrated. I haven't given up my coffee, yet, and have had extra the last 2 days. And I have LOTS of toxins to get rid of - almost 36 years worth. So, maybe that is it. I'll try some of the changes and post again if I still feel icky.
