Teeth emerging through the side of 3 m.o. son's gum

My 3 month old has little white hard dots on the sides of his gums....one on the bottom and 3 on the top so far. The doctor says they are his teeth!! They look like big zits but feel hard like teeth. I'm so worried. Why are they coming out the sides of his gums? Doc says "They will probably straighten out and come out normally." Probably???

Thanks.....
I tried looking on the internet for some info and couldn't find anything.

My DD had a white zit-like dot on her gums when she was smaller. Our ped said it was a certain type of cyst that usually clears up on its own over time...which it did.
ETA Google "Bohn's nodules"...I think you'll find this is what you are seeing. They are a type of gingival cyst, and nothing needs to be done.

My dd got her first tooth at 3 months, and around the same time she had one of those pearl "cysts" on her gums. I was sure it was a tooth (looked like a molar) but then it cleared up on its own.
