Is my baby underweight

He was born a big boy at 8lbs and 9oz but now at almost 7 months he only weighs a bit over 14 pounds. He is however long. He nurses as much as I can get him to and is very active. I am adding solids and plan to stuff him with avocado this week. Just wondering if this is on the low end. I know he wouldn't take anymore milk than he nurses already. I could probably get him to eat more solids but then I risk him nursing less.

^_^:
sounds ok to me dd1 was like that

^_^:
my godson was small like that. he's totally fine.

^_^:
My ds is like that also. At 7 mos he was around 15lbs, and now at almost 11 mos, he is about 19 lbs. It's just genetics.

^_^:
It's a little small for a boy, but that doesn't mean there is a problem. Ilana was 14#2oz at 7 mos and was about 10% on the charts, 5-10%.

^_^:
I wouldnt be concerned, as long as he is growing well to his curve its not a problem. Babys are all different sizes :)

My 3rd and 5th children are like this, so much so that (off the top of my head) I can remember the 5th one hitting 15 lbs at about 12 months. She's 19 months now and I'm sure she's gained at least another 7 lbs since then. She's at the bottom 5th percentile for her weight, but somebody has to be there. She nurses well and eats well, so we aren't too worried.
My son is rail-thin, his metabolism is jet fueled...we did have blood work done on him this year (he is recently 6yo), because of lots of loose stool. He's lactose intolerant and is completely besotted with yogurt (but he hasn't ever had cow's milk), and we just started using lactaid every time he has a yogurt. The blood work came back perfect, btw, and the lactaid is just to help him absorb more vitamins and not have to deal with the "I have to go potty NOW" syndrome.
love, penelope
