wet diapers...and wondering if I should worry.
OK, so DS is 9 months old and for the last few days I've noticed that he's been having fewer wet diapers than usual. Say, 4 *slightly* wet diapers a day, as opposed to the very wet ones I usually change every few hours. He's not nursing any less, but he has been eating alot more solids...and it's been hot, so first I thought it might be normal, and that he'd probably just wake up with a soaking wet diaper in the morning. He didn't. Wet, but not drenched. Then I thought my milk supply might have bottomed out on me (I'm pregnant), but every time we nurse, I still get a good letdown and hear lots of swallowing. He doesn't seem frustrated or dissatisfied after we nurse, either. He's not a super frequent pooper, so it's hard to gauge by that, too.
So then yesterday, we were traveling alot in the car and I ended up feeding him alot of junky solids to keep him occupied instead of screaming in the carseat (a bagel, graham crackers, a rice krispie treat...). This morning he pooped his first SOLID poop, and it seemed really painful for him. :( There's part of me that says it's probably just because I fed him so much junk yesterday, and another part of me that wonders if my guy isn't getting enough fluids! I've tried a bottle and sippy cup with water and/or a little juice, but he's clueless as to how to drink out of it. He will take a few sips out of my water glass occasionally, though. Sorry this is so long. What do you think??
^_^:
My lo is 8 mos old and she is being having changes in both bm and wet diapers. Her first solid poop was terrible (for me at least). That was after I feed her some strawberries, so I backed up and feed her some other kind of food, like more watery foo (i.e. melon, peaches, etc).
I would say try giving him more fruits and see if that helps. I wouldn't worry too much about not having too many wet diapers "as long as he is not letargic" or anything like that.
