DS doesn't seem to enjoy cosleeping
I know this is going to sound strange, but my DS is 4 weeks old and I try to cosleep with him at night and he spends his time fussing, crying, etc at the breast. I pick him up, nurse him with the boppy sitting up, he'll eventually fall asleep...I just started a new thread about him being up all night...so I thought cosleeping was the answer. I know he is gassier then DD...and this has alot to do with it. I have to bur[ him very often right now...
Then I put him in his bassinet near our bed. With DD, we coslept and I never felt too sleep deprived...but I do with DS. I must admit, when he is asleep, I love the space and the ability to spread out!
Anyone else's DC prefer sleeping on their own? Amazing how every DC is so different!

Just hearing a few things such as ....."gassy, burping him a lot, fussy at the breast, difficulty sleeping" makes me think allergies (reacting to something you are eating and it passing through your breastmilk).
You may consider going to the allergy thread and posting. Allergies manifest themselves so differently in everyone but what you mentioned above are all symptoms that could mean allergies.
Good Luck.

If he likes being in the basinette next to the bed, perhaps you should do that until the situation changes. I had one baby who loved to co-sleep, and one who couldn't sleep with someone touching her. She slept in a baby hammock in our bedroom.
It's not like he's down the hall or in another part of the house. He might just need a little space.
Six weeks is the peak of newborn fussiness, right? I might think about an allergy if it doesn't get better by 12 weeks or so, but four weeks is pretty early to start diagnosing stuff like that.

My first daughter HATED cosleeping. I had read so much before she was born about how to sooth, attachment parenting, cosleeping and i was so excited about it! I even bought a cosleeper and *almost* rejected a crib from my BIL.
For a while, she wouldn't sleep, just cry and had trouble. So I would hold her, rock her, nurse her, trying to do everything 'by the book'. One night(when she was about 4 weeks!) I was pacing the floor with her and my arms were getting tired and she was just fussing like crazy. So I laid her down in her unused crib. She fell asleep. :rolleyes So much for all my plans. *I* was making her fuss when all she wanted to do was lay down and be alone.
She's two now and has always been like that. Now she will actually tell me 'Mama, go' She LOVES her own room and her own crib. For the first year, i kept a futon in her room for me to sleep on because i liked being close to her, but it was out of her view and i had to sneak in to sleep there. :lol
Now I have number 2 and she loves cosleeping! Not just in the same bed, but snuggled right up there in between my boobs when she's done nursing. :o So you are right, it IS amazing how different they are. Sometimes i think that people don't think its AP if you don't cosleep. I'm glad I was in tune with DD1 to recognize her needs like that, which truly IS AP.
